An inspiration for so many famous artists living and dead, Grace Jones' image has transcended her career and made her an eternal timepiece in American pop culture.
Born Beverly Grave Jones in Spanish Town, Jamaica and raised by her grandparents until moving to Syracuse NY at about age fifteen. Upon arriving, Jones began modeling, first in NYC, then in Paris for names like Yves Saint Laurent, Kenzo & Halston.
She worked with Guy Bourdin and Helmut Newton on covers for Elle and Vogue while living with Jerry Hall and Jessica Lange in the city of Paris. In the late 70s, Jones signed her first record deal, marking the beginning of a long career in the music business. The albums sparked some of the most memorable images of Grace Jones to date.
